Welcome to Middle School

During the middle school years, when specialization and academic diversity increase, in line with our K–12 mission, we aim to guide our students toward national and international projects, as well as academic, cultural, artistic, and sports activities. We strive to help each student discover and develop their true potential by encouraging critical thinking and effective collaboration, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the world.

Through our middle school program, in addition to the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) curriculum, we follow an enriched curriculum prepared by our strong academic team. We aim to provide education that avoids rote learning, encourages thinking, self-expression, and goal setting, all in the light of Atatürk’s principles and reforms. Our main objectives include fostering a love of learning and teaching students how to learn.

We create platforms where students can fully and accurately express themselves, revealing their interests and talents in science, art, culture, and sports. Across all areas of the curriculum, we use technology, knowledge, and skills effectively and meaningfully, helping students raise their self-awareness to a high level on the path to achieving their goals.

With well-equipped classrooms, libraries, music and visual arts studios, technology design workshops, a Mind Lab, STEM lab, and science laboratories, we prioritize providing effective learning experiences, enhancing problem-solving skills through knowledge transfer, and ensuring lasting learning.

During these years, when communication becomes even more important and students’ characters begin to take shape, we view individual differences as a strength. We offer environments where differences are accepted and respect for diversity is encouraged.

Through community service activities, social responsibility projects, student council processes, international conferences, and club activities tailored to various interests, we support students’ knowledge, skills, and personality development.

We believe that in order for our students to be successful and happy individuals in the world of the future, values are just as important as academic achievement. At FEN Middle School, we prioritize living with strong moral values, developing a solid character, nurturing a sense of responsibility, and fostering inquiry skills.

We aim for our students to have international awareness, provide opportunities for them to engage with global issues, equip them with the knowledge and skills to interact with the world, and encourage communication with different cultures. Our goal is for them to develop proficiency in multiple languages to understand these cultures. English and Turkish proficiency are among our core targets, and in addition to the intensive English program, students choose Spanish or German as a second foreign language during middle school.

Middle school is a period when students transition from childhood to adolescence, experiencing the intensity of early teenage years. Through effective programs and activities run by our psychological counseling and guidance department, we aim to ensure smooth adaptation during the transition from primary to middle school, throughout their middle school life, and from middle school to high school. We carry out individual and group activities to support students’ social-emotional development and learning skills, while maintaining healthy communication between administration, counseling staff, teachers, parents, and students.

Our Process-Oriented Education System

With our experienced team from every branch, we follow a modern curriculum that views learning as a whole, encompassing both the process and the outcome. Our assessment tools measure not only knowledge but also comprehension, self-expression, interpretation, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation skills. Our modern assessment system identifies not just what the student knows, but also what they have and have not learned, and if not learned, why not—preparing an improvement process to address learning gaps. We believe that the most effective learning takes place through understanding and design.

At our middle school, we provide a learning environment built on a constructivist approach, where students are eager to learn, think critically, know how to work using scientific methods, and aim to relate their knowledge and skills to real life.
