Project-Based Learning at Fen Schools
In line with student-centered education, lessons at Fen Schools place a strong emphasis on multi-faceted, application-oriented project work, with the primary goal of inspiring curiosity and fostering a spirit of research.
Through project work, the following objectives are pursued:
Advancing the knowledge learned in lessons to higher levels,
Applying what has been learned,
Putting subject-specific knowledge into practice,
Collecting and correlating information through observation and/or research on a chosen topic,
Examining the relationship of the topic with other subjects, questioning causes, and reaching conclusions,
Preparing a written report of the work.
While learning research methods, students are also encouraged to explore their environment and build connections with it. Before starting a project, teachers guide students in selecting a suitable topic.
In project work:
The purpose of the study is determined together with the student(s),
The research method is explained,
Possible sources are discussed,
The format for writing the project report is demonstrated with examples,
The evaluation method is explained,
The ultimate goal is to raise students who research, discover, and solve.
In addition to in-class project work, Fen Schools also prepare students for national and international project competitions.
